Municipal Center of Rock Art with substantial exhibition of rock engravings and artifacts from Kratovo

About the Municipal center :

Municipal Centre of Rock Art with perpetual set of rock engraving from Kratovo is formed for the benefit of achieving of wide public interests trough out this aims:

  • Protection of rock engravings on local and regional level;
  • Sustainable exhibition of artefacts and rock engravings;
  • Organizing scientific excursions and expeditions;
  • Manufacturing of souvenirs;
  • Publishing science papers and books;
  • Organizing scientific lectures;

Activities:

  • Gathering, selecting and achieving of the findings from the field researches;
  • Collaboration with 30 volunteers- informers;
  • Presentations and lecturing from the area of Rock Art;
  • Gathering of narrative talks from the native population;
  • Taking pictures of important localities with big cultural-prehistoric meaning;
  • Making new documentary movies;
  • Protection of the localities;
  • One or more day excursions to the localities;
  • Scientific expeditions;
  • Development of alternative tourism;
  • Collaboration with tourist agencies, other NGO's, working organizations and schools;
  • Collaboration with different domestic and foreign institutes.

In the office of the municipal center there is a constant set of engravings, more then 500 pictures, dozen documentary movies, small library, great number of prehistorically objects made from stone, bones, wood and pottery.

The president of the society is Stevce Donevski, is employed in EVN - Kratovo. In this field he is researching since 1982. He is in a close collaboration since 1992 with the president of the World academy for Rock Art - Dusko Aleksovski. He attended at several seminars and symposiums. The latest seminar was held in Novi Sad called "Signs of civilization" in 2004 and also the International conference of archaeomythology in 2006. In his every day work he collaborates with: Joana Marler ; Academic Harald Haarmaan- institute of archeology in Finland; Berghard Egli - institute of biology Switzerland; Ph.D. Marco Merlini - institute of prehistory in Italy; Robert Michajlovski- Academy of Arts history in Australia; Risto Garevski - palaeontology; prof. Ph.D. Ivor Karavanic prof. Ph.D. Ilka Thiessen; prof. Ph.D. Vesna Bikikj; prof. Ph.D. Todor Todorov and others.
